Pneumafil's Metal Products Division Achieves SEP Status
December 2006

Pneumafil is one of only four Charlotte Operations suppliers to have earned SEP status from General Dynamics Armaments and Technical Products. The Supplier Excellence Program (SEP) is GDATP’s dock-to-stock program which utilizes delegated inspection at the supplier site.  Upon completion of an extensive qualification process, responsibility for product appraisal is delegated to selected supplier program representatives. SEP Suppliers are committed to aligning objectives and integrating resources with GDATP in order to provide our customers with best value products and services which consistently meet or exceed expectations.

The SEP originated in Burlington in 1984 and has evolved over the years to incorporate best practices from across the defense industry. As evidence of the maturity and effectiveness of the current program, the SEP was selected as a Best Practice by the Office of Naval Research’s Best Manufacturing Practices Program. Clearly our customers recognize the benefits of a strong delegated inspection program such as reduced acquisition costs and improved lead times associated with the elimination of redundant inspections.

Across GDATP, there are currently 52 SEP Suppliers and over 17,000 active SEP Parts. Charlotte Operations began evaluating suppliers for inclusion in the SEP in August of 2006.

General Dynamics Team Recognizes Pneumafil Efforts
July 31, 2006

Pneumafil Corporation was honored by a visit from General Dynamics Armaments and Technical Products (GDATP) staff. At a formal presentation, Linda P. Hudson, President of GDATP, praised Pneumafil employees for their rapid response in manufacturing components for equipment essential to the protection of our fighting forces. Recent projects for GDATP — producing enclosures for technology being supplied to U.S. troops in Iraq — have required very quick turnaround.

The GDATP team also toured Pneumafil's manufacturing facilites and joined Pneumafil employees for a cookout. Participants celebrated with the theme, "Two Great Teams...One Superior Defense".
