Environment:
|
Tropical (inland and coastal) areas

Light / heavy Industrial. Oil and gas activities. Urban.
Dense vegetation.

Land Use:
|
Agriculture. Industrial. Residential

Weather:
|
Hot and sunny. High humidity. Monsoon rains. Insect swarms.
Mist. Fog.

Temperature:

40° - 113° F (5° - 45° C)

Types of dust:
|
Plowing, harvesting, fertilizing, scrub burning and
other dust producing activities result in periodic localized high air
borne particulate concentrations that may contain corrosive elements.
Coastal areas will also be subject to predominantly wet airborne sea
salt.

Recommended Gas Turbine Inlet Air Filtration Systems
OPTION 1: Inland, Dust Concentrations > 0.1 mg/m3
- INLET WEATHER HOOD. (Full face inlet velocity < 2.75 m/s)
- INLET BIRD SCREEN OR INSECT SCREEN
- SELF-CLEANING INERTIAL SEPARATOR. (Bleed air exhaust fan may need
silencer)
- PRE FILTER. (Minimum 85% ASHRAE 52.1 arrestance. Minimum 2,000 grams
SAE-Fine dust holding capacity
- FINAL STAGE FILTER. (70% - 95% ASHRAE 52.1 Dust Spot Efficiency
depending upon the make and model of gas turbine being protected)
OPTION 2: Inland, Dust Concentrations < 0.1 mg/m3.
- As above system but use moisture eliminator in place of the inertial
separator
OPTION 3: Coastal
- INLET WEATHER HOOD. (Full face inlet velocity < 2.75 m/s)
- INLET BIRD SCREEN OR INSECT SCREEN
- MOISTURE ELIMINATON
- PRE FILTER. (Minimum 85% ASHRAE arrestance. Minimum 2,000 grams
SAE-fine dust holding capacity)
- FINAL STAGE FILTER. 95% ASHRAE Dust Spot Efficiency. Fully potted
hydrophobic medium. Filter banks sloped and provided with drain shelves
and down drains to facilitate removal of deliquesced droplets.
Notes applicable to all options:
- Low velocity (<1.27 m/s) extended area 16 mesh insect screens are
essential in areas subject to insect swarms. The screens need to be
accessible for periodic cleaning.
- It is essential that the inlet weather hoods be full face hoods,
i.e., the inlet face of the hoods must be horizontal and cover the full
length and width of the filter house.
